Tidings of the Tossed and the Lost
Have you heard of the time, when they took things they could not replace, to make things that would last well beyond them, that they used only briefly, then threw away, not seeing that there was really no "away" to throw to?
BEACH TRASH WANTED: CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
To those who live or travel far and wide, and who pick up plastic from coastlines around the world, I invite you to contribute a bottle’s worth of trash to an art installation that will feature recycled glass or plastic bottles of beach trash from as many different states/countries/islands/cities and continents as is possible! I will be collecting through the beginning of April. The trash filled bottles will be combined with hand blown glass elements for an installation piece called “Tidings of the Tossed and the Lost”, intended to raise awareness of plastic pollution, micro plastic, marine debris, marine pollution ocean plastic, and the dangers it poses marine ecosystems.
To participate in the project, please mail (by April 10, 2018) a bottle's worth of marine plastic (you can pre-fill a clear glass or plastic bottle or just put the beach trash directly in a box and I'll bottle it when it arrives) to The Department of Art, c/o Mariah Conner, California State University, San Bernardino, 5500 University Parkway, San Bernardino, CA 92407-2318. Please include the location where the trash was collected, and your name, or the name of your group or organization, if you would like to be acknowledged in the list of contributors. (:
Thank you!!
